Lover of Mankind
03:31
|
|||
You are the One, who descended into
Into the realm of death, of death, and You loosened all
Loosened all the bonds of its captives, also rest the souls
Rest all the souls of Your servants, O Savior!
You are the only pure and spotless Virgin
Having conceived God without sin, please beseech Him now
Beseech Him for the salvation, of the souls
Of all the souls of Your servants, O Savior!
O Lover of Mankind, we beseech You now!
O Lover of Mankind, we beseech You now!
In your peace O Lord, where all Your saints repose
O rest all the souls, of Your servants
O lover of mankind, we beseech You now!
O lover of mankind, we beseech You now!

What Remains of the Day
03:51
|
|||
Anything distant is a blur, lying in the still of the morn
Oh to die, a thousands deaths, just to wake and fear one more
I'm leaving here fully restored
I'll try not to offend You anymore,
I'll try my best, hoping it's not in jest
Happy again, keeping it all in was such a weight
I am happy once again
Confident that we'll always be friends
I'm happy once again, knowing we're friends
With vigilant eyes, with vigilant eyes
I am moving on
The stain isn't ever fully gone
Knowing the pain that I've brought on
O to cry, a thousand tears, just to hold back more
Happy again, happy again, happy again, again
Happy again, keeping it all in was such a weight
I am happy once again
Confident that we'll always be friends
I'm happy once again, knowing we're friends

The City of God
03:15
|
|||
Of all the angels and men who sinned
Their wickedness could not disturb
The power of God's own providence
To everyone, his own portion
Two cities have been
formed by two loves, the earthly with the love of self
the heavenly by God's own love, even to contempt of self
The City of God, show pity to the humble
and curse the sons of pride
We carry nothing into the world with us, and
we carry nothing out
What a difference, there is between
presumption from the creature's mouth
And the protection, that's freely dealt
directly from the Father's hand
The City of God, show pity to the humble
and curse the sons of pride
We carry nothing into the world with us, and
we carry nothing out

Peter Johnston RVA Richmond, Virginia
To put it simply, Peter Johnston RVA is Catholic indie rock; you
wouldn't hear this at mass, but it does
try to prove that traditional Catholic thought and indie rock are not mutually exclusive. It began easily enough as a few home recordings but has slowly turned into a full on project that explores matters of human dignity and common good in society.
Sincerely yours,
Peter Johnston RVA
