"Remember, Christmas is not just one day."

A Christmas tree already kicked to the curb on December 26th is a sad sight indeed, as it suggests we've already forgotten the wonder and awe of what was commemorated, starting just a short day before. The celebration has just begun on December 25th, and the joyous revelry should literally carry on through at least January 6 (or better yet, January 19th if you prefer the Julian calendar).

Christmas Octave is a split single from North Carolina's SEE IT ALL AT ONCE and Richmond, Virginia's Peter Johnston RVA. The release features two songs that highlight the bookends of the initial eight sacred days of Christmastide. SEE IT ALL AT ONCE offers 'On Earth is Peace', which beautifully captures the serenity and solemnity of the Nativity. This is followed by Peter Johnston RVA's 'Little Match Girl', which is a tribute to the Hans Christian Anderson fable of the same name, which is generally understood to be set in a Copenhagen-like city on New Year's Eve in the mid-19th century.

Christmas Octave is a reminder that Christmas extends well beyond the 25th as it invites us to let Christ reign in our hearts at the start of and throughout each new year.

wouldn't hear this at mass, but it does try to prove that traditional Catholic thought and indie rock are not mutually exclusive. It began easily enough as a few home recordings but has slowly turned into a full on project that explores matters of human dignity and common good in society.
